Director: Irish Braschi
Eurochannel presents a documentary revealing the life of one of the most important figures of Italian letters and theatre: Dacia Maraini. Welcome to a captivating personal voyage where you will discover her story, accomplishments, fights, joys and pains. Dacia will tell us all in I Was Born Travelling!
Directed by Irish Braschi, I Was Born Travelling is a journey back through Dacia Maraini's past. Her recollections of the past are entwined with the present. As an in-depth story of her life, enriched with rare footage from the Istituto Luce archive, Maraini’s memories come alive through personal photographs taken on the road as well as her own Super 8 films shot almost thirty years ago. Amongst many of her memories, Dacia devotes a good part of the documentary to one of her dearest friends and confidants: Pier Paolo Pasolini.
This production – which can be labeled a ‘docufilm’ – is a unique emotional journey spanning the different phases of life for this famous witness of the 20th century. From the story of her imprisonment in a concentration camp in Japan, to the legendary journeys around the world with her partner Alberto Moravia, her close friend Pier Paolo Pasolini and opera singer Maria Callas, her life allowed her to witness first-hand some of the events that shaped the past century, intertwining her experiences with the lives of some great historic personalities.
Come travel along with one of the most translated Italian authors in the world as I Was Born Travelling allows us an exclusive pass to the intimate diary of the one and only Dacia Maraini!
