Interview with Peter Stormare (Actor)
How did you get involved in this project?
I had another project in Sweden during the same period, so it was perfect timing.
What did attract you to take part of Black Widows?
I did like the script. It was both drama and comedy as I see it.
How would you describe your character?
A fun character to play. A person more complex than what one expects after seeing the first episode . . . he evolves as time passes.
What are the differences between your character and the police investigator in the original series?
Nothing much . . . I think. Sorry, but I haven't seen the original version. I do avoid looking atoriginals (if there is one), because I prefer to do my characters MY way and it's easy tounconsciously just copy the original if You've seen it.
Scandinavian and Nordic series have gained prominence and acclaim worldwide in recent years;what's the reason behind that in your opinion?
Good authors of crime-books and good scriptwriters that understand how to transfer a book into a moviescript.
As a Scandinavian actor living in Hollywood, do you prefer American or European productions?
I like both as I like to do different things and to play different roles, but it's more practical for me to work in North America as I live there.
Why should people never miss an episode of Black Widows?
Because then they will miss the twists that turns this series from drama to comedy and back. It's both thrilling and funny. Very rare.
Are you working on any projects at the moment? Can you tell us something about them?
I'm just finishing a movie set in Asia . . . We're filming in South Korea, but I'm not allowed to talk about it yet.
Also, I'm working on a script for the second season of my own series called Swedish Dicks, which is a comedy series about two Swedish private detectives that are NOT as smart as they think they are. I love it.
