A woman was cruelly murdered in the streets of a Czechoslovakian small town. A day later, her husband is found dead in the bakery he owned. Who is behind these crimes? Who will be brave enough to set the bait and catch the one responsible? Eurochannel invites you to Wilson City, a hilarious crime comedy in which you will find all the answers.
Located on the border with Hungary, the fictional town of Wilson City prepares for the great event of the village after the end of World War I. They are expecting the city to be visited by newly elected US president Woodrow Wilson, and to soon be annexed as a State of the American Union. But little did they know that a serial killer would be on the loose to sink their aspirations.
Directed by Tomás Masín, one of the new talents of Czech cinema, Wilson City offers a one-of-a-kind comedy far from the stereotypes of art house cinema. In this movie, the main characters, a clumsy police cadet, a cheeky and superstitious FBI agent, an incompetent police chief and a delusional mayor, unleash a chain of events that combines crime and comedy with the thrills of paranormal activity.
Loosely based on a series of crime novels, Wilson City was screened in numerous festivals around the world, including the prestigious Berlinale. The movie was also nominated for the Best Music Award at the 2016 Czech Lions.
Come join the satirical story of a crime investigation where mystery blends with paranormal activity to find a serial killer.
A mysterious murderer emerges after the end of World War I, and has begun a rampage in Wilson City, a small town in Czechoslovakia. The investigation is led by an incongruent pair of detectives ― a novice police cadet, Josef Eisner (Vojtech Dyk) and the experienced FBI officer, Aaron Food (Jirí Machácek), sent to Europe by US President Woodrow Wilson himself.
